Scout boat battery layouts

Scout center consoles: AGM starting batteries, tight consoles, and saltwater wiring.

Console and transom

Scout layouts vary by model. Smaller Sportfish boats hide a starting battery in a tight well. Larger XSF boats add electronics load and often a second battery. Group size follows the box. Salt exposure at the posts is consistent even when the floor plan is not.

Keeping start and house apart

House or electronics batteries should not flatten the start bank overnight. A switch that was left on BOTH, or a charger that only sees one battery, is a common call. See the house-load article for that pattern.

Measure first

We measure before assuming a group 31 will drop in. A photo of the well with a tape on the tray is enough to start.

We come to the boat in the Florida towns we serve. Marine battery replacement and installation is the job, not hull sales.
