Yamaha boat battery setups

Yamaha jet-powered center consoles and jet boats: compact starting batteries, tight hatches, and heat.

190 FSH Sport is a jet-powered center console

Yamaha lists the 190 FSH Sport in its Center Console series. The driveline is jet: 155 mm high-pressure pumps and a 1.9-liter HO Yamaha marine engine, not an outboard hanging on the transom. Yamaha’s public spec lists a dual battery setup and a custom trolling-motor mount. Length is 19 feet 5 inches. That is a compact starting-battery boat with a second battery if the owner uses the trolling mount or electronics.

Jet boats and the 190 FSH well

Yamaha jet boats keep the starting battery in a tight, hot compartment under a hatch. The 190 FSH Sport dual-battery layout is the same idea: compact starting power, extra capacity if electronics or a trolling mount are in use. Heat under a cover on a Florida lift is the usual failure, not a three-battery trolling string unless the boat actually has a bow motor.

Starting battery in the jet compartment

This page is about batteries on Yamaha boats. When a hull also carries an outboard, that engine’s manual still sets the starting spec. We match the tray and the charger on the hull in front of us.

We come to the boat in the Florida towns we serve. Marine battery replacement and installation is the job, not hull sales.
