Boston Whaler battery layouts

Typical Boston Whaler center-console battery access, dual batteries, and saltwater terminal care.

Where the batteries live

On Montauk and Dauntless-style Whalers the starting battery is usually in the console well or under a cockpit hatch, often with a second battery for electronics and a battery switch. Access is through a gasketed lid. That lid keeps spray out and also holds heat in, which is hard on any chemistry in Florida summer.

Salt, heat, and the console

Gulf and Atlantic Whalers take washdown water around the posts. Green terminals and a switch that sits in a damp well are the usual failure, not a mystery in the hull. A flooded battery in a poorly vented console also means hydrogen has to go somewhere; AGM starting batteries are common in that box because they do not spill.

What we need for a quote

Year, engine, and a photo of the open well with the group size visible. Model names on this site are hull-type examples from public brand pages. The tray already on the boat decides the replacement, including hold-downs that still clamp the case.

We come to the boat in the Florida towns we serve. Marine battery replacement and installation is the job, not hull sales.
