The bow motor is why the boat exists
Ranger Z-series and TRACKER bass boats put a 24- or 36-volt motor on the bow and an outboard on the transom. That is two electrical systems. The trolling batteries are deep-cycle, usually flooded group 31, sometimes lithium if the charger and BMS allow. The starting battery is a different tray. Mixing those jobs is how a Saturday ends at idle.
Replace the string as a string
BU-302: same type, same capacity, same age in series. One new flooded 31 in with two three-year-old neighbors is a short repair. Lithium mixed into flooded series is not a series string; it is a mistake. We quote the bank you have.
Weight on the bow
Three flooded 31s are heavy. Lithium cuts that weight if — and only if — series is allowed and the three-bank charger can be set for LFP without float. Weight is a handling and trim issue. The bow will feel different after a chemistry change.
The transom charger
Plug it in after every trip, or accept sulfation (BU-802) on a trailer in the sun. A charger with one dead bank ages that one battery first. We test the charger leads when we are in the driveway.
Central Florida pattern
Leesburg, Orlando, and Polk County storage lots are where these boats live. We come to the trailer. Motor voltage and a photo of the bow trays start the quote.
Neighbor batteries of the same year
If two of three flooded 31s are original to a used Ranger, plan on the third following. We will say that on the quote so Saturday is one visit. Mixing a lithium module into that leftover flooded pair is not a series bank. Motor voltage, then chemistry, then the whole string.
