Sea Ray house and starting batteries

Bowrider, runabout, and cruiser electrical loads, onboard chargers, and house banks on Sea Ray boats.

What Sea Ray’s own pages call these hulls

Sea Ray lists the SPX line as bowrider and runabout boats, and calls the SPX 190 a sport boat with a sterndrive. SDX is a separate deck-boat line. Smaller SPX boats often keep a starting battery and a modest accessory or house battery. Cabin cruisers add a real house bank, a fridge, and sometimes an inverter under a step or in the engine room.

Shore power and the charger

Boats that live on a lift or in a slip usually have an onboard charger on a pedestal. A dead house bank with a charger that lost GFCI, or a program still set for the wrong chemistry, is a slip problem as often as a failed cell. We test the batteries and we look at the charger together.

Access on the visit

Engine-room and cabin-step batteries are the labor. A photo of the open compartment, the charger brand, and whether the boat is a sterndrive SPX or a deck-style SDX tells us more than the hull logo.

We come to the boat in the Florida towns we serve. Marine battery replacement and installation is the job, not hull sales.
